What I’m Giving this Year

Six products—big and small—that I’m planning to give this holiday season.

I find myself particularly enthusiastic as the holidays approach because they allow me to gift some pretty amazing discoveries throughout the year. As a general rule, I gravitate toward the type of gifts that my recipients are not likely to splurge on for themselves. Some of my gifting ideas are derived from the companies in which I invest, others I notice during my travels and a few are quirky or unusual items that I’ve picked up for myself. So whether you are a last-minute shopper braving the holiday crowds or paying expedited shipping, or you are always in need of birthday, anniversary or Valentine’s Day suggestions the rest of the year, then I hope my own list inspires.

Barbour Gisburne Jacket

I grew up outside of Philadelphia and know the desire for finding a warm, well-made winter coat. This gift is practical but also says: “I want you to stay toasty and cozy.” And please don’t forget to donate your old coats to shelters or Goodwill this winter. $529,

Snowe Home Candle Set

With fun names like Staycation, Tastemaker, Rinse & Repeat and Pillow Talk, there is a candle in this set for every room of your home and in rich fragrances. Candles are one of my favorites gifts to give and receive. Set of 5 for $135,

Fatty Sundays or Pretzables

I find that chocolate and candy always bring joy to people’s lives—and are especially fun for sharing with guests during the holidays. Fatty Sundays: $30,; Pretzables: $20,

Trademark Cooper Cage Tote

This is a nod to my daughters’ brand here, because I am proud of their hard work and design aesthetic, including the size, shape and detail of this satin drawstring handbag. $998,

U.S. Jaclean Zero-Gravity Massage Chair

Admittedly an extravagant gift choice, this is the Bentley of massage chairs for the person who has everything. You can choose the type of massage you need, areas of your body that need focus and the angle of your position. The massage chair is a great way to start the day while checking emails or unwind at the end of the day with your favorite podcast. $7,000,

And last but not least, a donation made to charity in the name of the recipient is always a wise choice. Because of course it is the thought of any gesture alone that is a gift unto itself.
