Cary Geller

Cary is a Managing Director, Senior Wealth Advisor, and a Principal of The Colony Group with more than 30 years of broad-based experience in financial planning, individual tax planning, and investment management. Cary has taught as an adjunct professor in Boston University's Financial Planning Program and he is currently a member of the program's board of advisors.  He has also lectured before numerous corporate, professional, and educational organizations, including the Financial Executives Institute, the Attorney General's Office of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, and Harvard Law School, speaking on financial planning, including estate planning and pre- and post-retirement planning. Before joining the firm in July 2012, Cary was a founder and the Executive Vice President of Mintz Levin Financial Advisors, which provided wealth management and investment advisory services to individuals and families. Worth magazine listed Cary as one of the "Best Financial Advisors in the Country" six times during the period from 1994 to 2008 and most recently was named by Boston Magazine as a "Five Star Wealth Manager" in 2010, 2011, and 2015.  Cary was listed as a "Top Professional Advisor in J. K. Lasser's New Rules for Estate and Tax Planning book”. He has been regularly quoted and featured in the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Banker and Tradesman, and Business Week, and has been a guest financial planning professional on local radio and TV programs. Cary graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a BBA, summa cum laude, in accounting and quantitative analysis, and he received his MBA from Indiana University with an emphasis in taxation. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, a Personal Financial Specialist, and an Accredited Estate Planner®. Cary is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), and the Boston Estate Planning Council.
