After completing his military service in the Korean war, Feeney began selling duty-free liquor to U.S. military personnel in the 1950s. From there, the future billionaire cofounded the highly successful airport retailer Duty Free Shoppers in 1960. In 2011, he signed the Giving Pledge created by Warren Buffet and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
