Recently appointed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Keechant Sewell became New York City’s first female police commissioner in December 2021. Previously, Sewell worked at the Nassau County Police department in the narcotics and major case units and served as a hostage negotiator before being promoted to chief of detectives in 2020.
