Jessica Rosenworcel was confirmed by the Senate as the Federal Communications Commissioner in October, making her the first woman to officially lead the FCC in the history of the United States. Prior to her appointment, Rosenworcel had been serving as acting chairwoman of the FCC, but under the Biden administration she was named permanent chair. Rosenworcel practiced communications law before joining the FCC in 1999, where she has held numerous leadership positions over the past 13 years.
