THE POWER MOVE: It takes a lot to stand out among Dubai’s infinitude of luxury offerings, but this 689-foot residential tower is one of the emirate’s hottest commodities. Designed by London-based Atkins—the same firm behind the famous spinnaker-shaped Burj Al Arab—the 52-story structure houses 80 apartments, including 6,100-square-foot, four-to-five-bedroom “presidential penthouses” and six-bedroom “royal penthouses” that—at about 15,000 square feet—comprise a whole floor and offer ocean views. Some of the smaller units start at around $5 million, with the larger penthouses fetching upwards of $16 million.
Dubai Marina is the most coveted neighborhood of Dubai because of its proximity to the beaches, business district and best restaurants, retail and nightlife. This may sound like a congested area—and indeed, foot and vehicletraffic in Dubai Marina can be oppressive—but Le Rêve steers clear of the crowds with a private access road.
Amenities range from high-speed elevators that are lined with semi-precious jewels to limo service, in-house security and a spa and fitness center designed in part by Roger Federer. But in a city where extravagance is the norm, the real appeal of this tower is privacy. Penthouse residents, for example, will never share an elevator with a neighbor.
