Seventy-two percent of Americans are stressed about money, according to a survey by the American Psychological Association. And according to a 2016 survey done by Charles Schwab, 70 percent of millennial women worry more about having enough money later in life than they do about being healthy, whereas 46 percent of men feel this way.

“There’s a lot of stress going on around money in this country, whether you have it or not,” says Carrie Schwab-Pomerantz, chair and president of the Charles Schwab Foundation and senior vice president of Charles Schwab. “Even people who have it are stressed out because they don’t really know how to manage it, so I always tell people it starts with a plan.”
