Savannah

There’s no place quite like Savannah, Ga. In the words of local business owner Stephen Green, “Savannah is seductive. She typifies the very best of the old South.”

Last year, over 14 million people visited the city for its myriad new and revitalized luxury hotels and emerging fine dining. They rested in fluffy beds adorned with Italian linens at the Perry Lane Hotel and sipped on Prosecco paired with a Popsicle on a rooftop at the Grove in City Market. They strolled the waterfront, savored, shopped and danced in a city that has hosted producers, royalty and more of the world’s most interesting people since its founding in 1733.

Built on a bluff overlooking the bustling Savannah River and just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, visitors flock to the city’s shores, toss their car keys, don tennis shoes and walk the streets—paved with ballast  stones—amid the grandeur of centuries-old buildings. They picnic in parks and squares shaded by massive live oaks and consume culture that overflows into year-round festivals; event sites include historic churches and ambient nightclubs.

The Case for Centering Education in ESG

Amidst ESG backlash and global challenges—even war—education rises as a shared solution to provide long-term opportunity and prosperity.

In Savannah, there’s something for everyone and surprises abound on nearly each street corner. From eateries to the sounds of jazz that float through the treetops, the pace in Savannah can be exhilarating, quiet or toe-tapping.

But wait…the sequel to Savannah’s centuries-old storyline is about to reveal another chapter with all the drama of a southern belle descending marble stairs at her debutante ball.

Rendering of JW Marriott Hotel

In the northwest corner of the National Historic District, Plant Riverside rises like a modern-day Land of Oz. The city’s original power plant (for a hundred years) is evolving into a multifaceted entertainment district. When the project comes alive, this transformation will draw even more global press and visitors, with its new array of exciting options for shopping, dining and fun.

River Street

Soon, more than 35 new businesses and 13 restaurants—along with music, education and conference facilities—will light up the waterfront. A 419-room JW Marriott Hotel will join the restoration and revitalization efforts of city planners, and this nearly four-acre site will combine nostalgia with modern glamour along an active and picturesque corner.

Christian Sottile, principal of Sottile & Sottile development partners, calls the complex “a project of architectural and urban significance,” adding one more jewel to this southern destination’s crown.
