Marcelo Belmonte

Chief Winegrower, Bemberg Estate Wines

Marcelo Belmonte graduated from the School of Agricultural Sciences of the National University of Cuyo, Mendoza. He holds a Master of Science in Horticulture and Agronomy with Viticulture Specialisation from the University of California Davis, in addition to being a member of the Society for Oenology and Viticulture, the American Society of Agricultural Engineers and the Soil Science Society of America.

Since 2004, Marcelo has been leading Trapiche’s team of agronomists, a role where he has been appraised for introducing highly innovative styles and techniques both for the training and the vineyard row orientation systems. Soil mapping and trials have also been implemented under his guidance in order to quantify the qualitative impact of the different vineyard practices on the grapes.

Joined by Daniel Pi, Marcelo has taken the leading role of meticulously studying and selecting the outstanding blocks of the best Family-owned estates along Argentina that will ultimately yield their wine collection. Since 2016, Marcelo has also conducted countless studies using state-of-the-art technology on Finca El Tomillo, an estate acquired exclusively by the Family for the purpose of designing a vineyard that, according to the experts’ opinion, has the potential for becoming Argentina’s most emblematic vineyard.
