Kristen leads Virgin Hyperloop One’s Materials Engineering program, working across the company to support materials selection, testing, manufacturing, procurement, and construction as the commercial hyperloop product is developed. Her team works with many other teams in the company to ensure that the right materials are being chosen for the system, and the full life–cycle of the material is well–understood. Kristen was one of the early employees of the company back in October 2015 and has also led weldingand inspection efforts at our Devloop test track, the world’s first full–system hyperloop.
Kristen graduated with a degree in welding engineering from Ohio State and has worked at Westinghouse Nuclear, Honda R&D, SpaceX, and several other aerospace companies. She has spent time as a welding engineer working on electron beam welding, TIGwelding, MIG welding, stick welding, flux–cored welding and a variety of other processes. Kristen is a native of Delaware, Ohio, just north of Columbus, and has been a member of the American Welding Society since 2009.
