Julie Turpin

Chief People Officer, Brown & Brown, Brown & Brown

Grounded in the principle that “talent breaks all ties”, Julie Turpin is committed to Brown & Brown’s high-performance culture and to providing teammates a competitive, fun, and rewarding environment, rich with opportunity and potential. As a seasoned business professional, she values people above all other assets and recognizes the return on investment that comes from coaching leaders and acting on the feedback of the broader team. This philosophy is at the core of Brown &Brown’s employment practices that led to being named a Great Place to Work-certified company in 2019.

As Chief People Officer for Brown & Brown, Julie is responsible for teammate engagement, learning and development, compensation, rewards, and benefits, as well as all other Team Resources operations. Julie Turpin joined the organization in August 2012 as the Chief Operating Officer of a subsidiary company, The Advocator Group. She was drawn to Brown & Brown because of its distinct, decentralized operating methodology, wherein she could independently set strategy and execute on results for her business unit, while simultaneously having unlimited growth opportunities within the construct of the parent company. That, together with a culture of determined optimism, was a superb match for Julie’s personal and professional goals, as well as her people-centric skill set.

In 2014, she assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of The Advocator Group, and subsequently became a Service Sector leader with responsibility for additional Brown & Brown subsidiaries, including Professional Disability Associates, Nuquest, and Medval. Under her leadership, several of these business units doubled their top line results in a five-year span. Prior to her experience at Brown & Brown, Julie was a Principal and the Head of Operations for GCG Risk Management Consultants. She also served as the Senior Vice President and Head of Operations in the Midwest Zone for Marsh USA. Her experience as a business operator, as well as in property and casual insurance leadership, uniquely positions her to understand and anticipate the needs of the over 10,000 Brown & Brown teammates.

Julie and The Advocator Group were honored for five consecutive years from 2014 to 2019 as a Top 100 Women-Led Business in Massachusetts. In 2019, she was named as an Influential Woman in Business honoree by the Daytona Beach News-Journal and the Volusia-Flagler Business Report. Julie received her Bachelor ofScience from Cardinal Stritch University. She resided in Palm Coast, Florida, and enjoys yoga, meditation, travel, and the outdoors.
