President, United States and Global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Nuvo Group Debra is a growth-oriented business and team leader who has built iconic brands at some of the world’s most admired Fortune 50 companies. With roots in the fast-moving consumer goods and healthcare industries, she made a bold move in 2018 to an early stage health tech startup to leverage her collective industry experience and know how to bring meaningful innovation to advance women’s health.
Debra is currently President of the United States and Global CMO at Nuvo Group, an emerging leader in maternal fetal health with a bold ambition to reinvent pregnancy care for the 21 st century with new technology, tools, and practices that give every life a better beginning. In this capacity, she is shaping and seeding the United States to serve as a lead market for deploying Nuvo’s novel technology platform beginning with early adopter customer sites. In addition, she has created and activated Nuvo’s global brand foundation to engage multi-stakeholder audiences.
Before joining the Nuvo Group, Debra spent 15 years at Johnson & Johnson (J&J) Companies in a variety of commercial leadership roles, including President, Global Marketing Services at J&J Consumer Companies. In this capacity, she led a team of 200+ professionals while developing modern marketing capabilities and strategic external partnerships that accelerated the profitable growth behind J&J’s $14B portfolio of global, regional, and local brands.
Prior to this role, Debra served as Global President of J&J’s $2B+ Global Baby Care Franchise, where she delivered the long-term growth strategy for the Baby Care Needs State and architected a transformational turnaround of the iconic Johnson’s Brand. She shepherded the brand through a re-launch including new products, packaging, content, strategic partnerships, and creation of an omni-channel footprint. She also held leadership positions in the Medical Device Sector at J&J Companies and in Pharmaceuticals at Bristol Myers Squibb Company. Before joining J&J, Debra gained general and brand management training at Procter & Gamble, working on iconic brands such as Tide detergent and Cover Girl Cosmetics.
Debra is an active industry speaker and has presented at Cannes Lion’s Health, Modern Marketing Summit, New York Advertising Week, and, most recently, the Women’s Health Innovation Summit. She was recently recognized as one of the “Top 100 Women in FemTech” and has been nominated to the Adweek Women Trailblazers Council. Throughout her career, Debra has been committed to advancing women’s leadership. While at J&J, she served on the Global Women’s Leadership Initiative Steering Committee and was an Executive Director of the #SeeHer industry initiative. She currently serves as a Co-Chair of the P&G Alumni Women’s Forum. Debra holds a B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University and an M.B.A. in General Management from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.
