David Kirkpatrick is a journalist, the founder of Techonomy Media, and author of the best-selling book “The Facebook Effect: The Inside Story of the Company That Is Connecting the World.” Techonomy’s conferences gather leaders at digital and physical events to discuss how tech changes everything and to help build a better society. Techonomy normally hosts two major annual events—in New York in May (canceled for this year) and a retreat in Half Moon Bay, California, scheduled for November 8-10, 2020. Speakers have included Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Marc Benioff, Marissa Mayer, Peter Thiel, Penny Pritzker, Jeff Weiner, Katherine Maher, John Chambers, Esther Dyson, and Tim O’Reilly. Kirkpatrick’s book on Facebook is in 32 languages. He spent 25 years at Fortune Magazine, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
