Winter is in full swing. With the holidays having passed, there are plenty of events to focus on from Abu Dhabi to Napa Valley. Here, Worth highlights this month’s four can’t-miss events.

PSIFF opening night reception
Its proximity to Los Angeles makes this festival a favorite with the Hollywood crowd, but its biggest strength is as a showcase for international films. The festival is one of the few U.S. film events that focuses on foreign titles, elevating the profile of directors such as Alfonso Cuarón, whose Oscar-winning Roma was honored during the last edition. As Middle Eastern petro-states like Abu Dhabi grapple with the waning strength of oil in the global market, they are attempting to reshape their economies by exploring alternative and sustainable forms of energy. This summit brings together policymakers and investors to discuss developments in energy efficiency such as smart cities, water management and solar power. Through January 16.

The 10th edition of this culinary and wine event comes as California is seeing real potential for developing a large-scale black truffle industry. Renowned Michelin-starred chefs such as La Toque’s Ken Frank and Marea’s Molly Nickerson will host a series of lunches and seminars centered on the prized fungi. Through January 20.

In the 19 years since ESPN began organizing this “x-treme” sports competition, its disciplines have become so popular that they have arguably ceased to be considered extreme. But the X Games continues to celebrate unorthodox winter athletics with ski, snowboard, snowbike and snowmobile events. In addition to all the action on Buttermilk Mountain, visitors to the games can enjoy concerts at the festival village. Last year Lil Wayne and Kygo were among the performers. Through January 26.

Entering it’s 20th year, the three-day charity wine auction brings together world-class vintners, sommeliers and chefs, while auction off lots such as one of the first 2020 Bentley Flying Spurs in the U.S., an 11-night tour of Cambodia and Vietnam to visit UNESCO World Heritage sites and Wimbledon Debenture and VIP British Open tickets to benefit the Naples Children & Education Foundation.
