For over 89 years, the Piedmontese town of Alba in northern Italy has celebrated its most prized export besides wine—the white truffle—with a lengthy festival. Every Saturday and Sunday through October and November, the town swells with activity, from culinary demonstrations by master chefs and wine cellar tours to the signature White Truffle World Auction, where the finest fungi are sold at astronomical prices.
