New York, NY (November 6, 2007) – The editors of Worth magazine have announced their much-anticipated “100 Top Attorneys” list. Arriving on newsstands November 13, the list, now in its 3rd year, honors those lawyers across the United States who possess the rare combination of skill, experience and listening ability that allows them to counsel their clients on some of their most critical, personal decisions. The list is the result of over a year’s exhaustive research by Worth’s editorial staff.

To pare down its list to 100, Worth’s editors “vet nominees though a detailed process designed to ensure that those we honor are really the leaders in their respective fields,” explains Worth Senior Features Editor Emily DeNitto. She adds, “We begin by asking our readers to nominate attorneys with whom they’ve had successful working experiences. We then solicit nominations from professionals who regularly interact with leading lawyers: financial advisors, accountants, and others… We target those nominees whose experience is deep enough, who serve clients with sufficient net worth, and who have the professional affiliations and publishing history to indicate they could provide extraordinary expertise to a Worth reader. We also ask more nuanced, probing questions in an effort to discern both the intellectual heft and personal touch of the nominees.”

Worth focuses on attorneys specializing in trust and estates, philanthropy, elder care, matrimonial and other private practice areas. Twenty-eight states have lawyers included on the list, with California leading all states with fifteen, followed closely by New York with thirteen, Florida and Pennsylvania with nine and Illinois with seven.

With the number of affluent households in the United States greater than ever before, Worth precedes the article by engaging four lawyers from the 2007 Top 100 Attorneys list in a conversation on ways to use estate planning to instill strong values and a sense of self-worth in heirs. Lawyers Jon Gallo, Donna Morgan, Todd M. Villarrubia and Martin M. Shenkman

offer insights on the various ways parents can use estate planning to actually motivate their children.

Also in the December Issue: Executive Editor Douglas McWhirter interviews Arianna Huffington, founder of The Huffington Post, about the two-year-old blog’s winning business model – it attracts 3.5 million visitors daily, has an advertiser-driven revenue model and has reaped handsome returns for investors. Huffington also discusses how she has defied her critics and rewritten the rules of new-media success. In “Investing Like Harvard and Yale,” writer Judy Martel looks at if the strategy of America’s top universities -- allocating large parts of their endowment portfolios to alternatives – can work well for individuals and families. Experts agree that barriers and liquidity must be considered.
