New Yorkers Top In Giving
01/25/2007

New Yorkers give more to the needy than residents of any other state, according to data from Boston College's Center on Wealth and Philanthropy published in a November edition of the New York Sun. New York residents donated 7 percent of their income to charity over the past 10 years, followed by residents of Washington, D.C. (6.6 percent); Utah (5.7 percent); California (5.1 percent); and Connecticut (4.8 percent). The least munificent population was found in North Dakota (1.8 percent).
