Los Alamos claims most millionaires per capita

While California and Florida have more millionaire households than any other states, findings of a recent survey from Phoenix Marketing's International Affluent Marketing Service (AMS) held one big surprise: Los Alamos, N.M., a tiny town of 18,000 in the mountains northwest of Santa Fe, had more millionaires per capita than any other city in the U.S. Nearly 10 percent of its households have assets over $1 million.

Known primarily as the home of Los Alamos National Laboratory, where the atomic and hydrogen bombs were designed, Los Alamos may benefit from its proximity to the cultural life of Santa Fe.
