Countries work on reforms.
Doing business became easier worldwide in 2005-2006, with reforms
in Africa outpacing those in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, according
to a survey released by the World Bank.
The World Bank noted 213 regulatory reforms in 112 economies,
reducing the time and costs to businesses in complying with legal and
administrative requirements. The reforms also included stronger property rights,
lower tax burdens, easier credit and a cut in the costs of exporting and
importing.
The top 10 reformers, in order, were: Georgia, Romania, Mexico,
China, Peru, France, Croatia, Guatemala, Ghana and Tanzania.
The report was released Sept. 6.
