Work, risks, God credited for wealth.
Hard work, smart risk taking and God were credited as mainsprings
in wealth accumulation in a survey of individuals with at least $25 million in
investable assets. The research was sponsored by Wachovia’s Calibre multifamily
office and conducted online by HNW, a New York marketing firm that targets the
affluent.
The survey, conducted in March and April, included 134
respondents: 48 percent were women, and 85 percent have had their wealth for 10
years or less.
In a multianswer question, 78 percent attributed their wealth to
hard work. Forty-eight percent also credited smart risk taking, and just
behind, at 47 percent, were those who called their wealth “a blessing from God.”
One-third credited “luck and good timing.” Women were more likely than men to
name hard work as the basis for their wealth—85 and 71 percent,
respectively.
Regarding politics, one-third of the respondents said they were
neither Republican nor Democrat.
Calibre is the nation’s third-largest multifamily office.
