Council on Foundations restores J. Paul Getty membership

Citing "positive and significant" reforms to its governance and
management practices, the Council on Foundations has now restored the Getty Trust to full membership status.

This comes after the council placed the Getty Trust on probation in June 2005 after inquiring into changes related to the sale of Getty property, the use of foundation assets for personal benefit, excessive travel and entertainment expenses, inappropriate compensation for the foundation's CEO and potential self-dealing. In February, Getty CEO Barry Munitz resigned. The council's decision to restore the Getty's membership came after the trust's new leadership showed the council, in detail, the changes made in governance policies and procedures.
