U.S. Leads Competitiveness Report
11/06/2007

World Economic Forum releases rankings.

The dollar may be sliding, but the United States moved past Switzerland to take first place in the 2007–2008 Global Competitiveness Report compiled by the World Economic Forum. The study, released October 31 by the Geneva-based organization, reviewed 131 countries. The rankings are based on public data and on interviews with more than 11,000 business leaders across the globe.

Collaboration between the educational and business sectors in the United States was key to the rating, as was the sheer size of the domestic economy.

Following the United States in the top 10, in order, were Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Singapore, Japan, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
